i need a new X1950XT cooler, help!

well, i just got a new x1950xt 256mb. upgraded from a 7300GT. this is an amazing card but to my amazement, this card loud and hot.... its like my hair dryer.... im not kidding. my card idles at 54C and load at 75C with fans at 100% which is, i believe, 5000RPM.

i am looking at the accelero x2 or the vf900. i am leaning towards the accelero x2 because its cheaper and a lot more people buy this cooler for the x1950xt. however, i want to ask some people here and what they think.

also i believe both cooler doesnt exhaust out through the outside. thats a shame because my case temp will go sky high.

first, your temps and noise with the stock cooler are normal. second, i wouldn't even consider an Accelero. i have a Zalman VF900. with my card's stock dual slot HSF, i was at 45 idle/80 load (using ATiTool to inrease fan speed. stock fan speeds had me loading at 90+.) with the Zalman i'm at 35 idle - load is a little trickier. simple games like Grand Theft Auto and CoD2 with my competition settings, i'll load around 55 degrees. with demanding games (DiRT, FEAR, GRAW, any game with HDR) when i have AA and AF cranked up, i will actually load as high as 70°C. but that's still lower than stock and much lower than what the card was intended to run at.

the kicker is that the Zalman is completely inaudible at low speed. at full speed i can hear a wooshing sound coming from it, but it's very discrete. it also lowered my VRAM temp, allowing me to overclock it too. plus, the Zalmans are a lot nicer looking than the Acceleros.

hope this helped.

check the first pic in my sig to see what it looks like in my case pretty.

The extra couple of bucks for the Zalman is worth it, but other than that, your stock cooler is doing a decent job at cooling as of now. My load temp is about 81C with my room temp at about 85 degrees, and I set the fan speed to 100% when it hits 70C

I'm happy with my Accelero X2, its quite. However, I'm sure the zalman gets lower temps, it just depends how far you want it down (price and sound are always issues ).

Fine I say the accelero v2 since noise seems to be an issue..

Do you plan on overclocking at all?

im planning to get it to 700/1000

isn't the vf900 and accelero x2 both really really really quiet? since these 2 coolers r already quiet enough, i would choose performance over silence
