I would expect it to be somewhere around $290-$295 or so at first... depending on demand.

It will likely settle around the $266 price point in the long term though, they often do, but I don't think it will happen right away. Demand looks to be far too high for that to happen - but we'll see.

I think to be honest the price may actually rise yet, the E6850 is far too close in expected MSRP price of the Q6600 to be even logical. The E6850 simply wouldn't sell if that was the case. Also, like Tankguys said demand is likely to be HIGH.....well i'd say more like INCREDIBLY MEGA HIGH due to the amount of ppl that have seen or heard about Crysis and Alan Wake. And Quad Core is all that's on ppl's minds....

You sure as thats a bloody long while as Yorkfield won't come out till most likely February or March of next year!

I'm waiting for it though instead of getting the Q6600 ... Yorkfield will rock my c*ck, metaphorically anyway.

Think about it, unless AMD's Quad Core beats Intel's then there will be nothing to really compete with. Apart from Intel's own Yorkfield CPU.

Although i'm betting AMD's Quad Core will wipe the floor with Intel's.

I really doubt AMD's QC will be better... Ever since Core 2 Duo came out they have been permanently going downhill with the high end CPU market, but you are right that if Intels Q6600 is better than AMD's offerings the price definately won't go down...

I just really, really want to know more info on Yorkfield and how good it is, especially about it's OC ability and the 45nm architecture.

Well they did do a test on the web against a QX6800, unforunately the test was flawed by the fact that the Yorkfield was running stock @ 3.33Ghz. Although there wasn't much between them....

Was it a high end or low end Yorkfield though? I still cannot find anything about the names of the Yorkfield processors, the price, heat, Power conusmuption etc. yet.
