i got a athlon xp thoroughbred-b 2000+
133*12.5=1667mhz

i just got a ga-7n400e-l
now i'm running at
200*8.5=1700mhz

i'm trying to go higher than 8.5 but the system won't boot
i did try raising the vcore but didn't change anything.

is this the max i can go?

With the fsb that high, it will actually run better even tho the clock speed is only a few mhz higher. Have you tried anything between 166 and 200fsb and a higher multi?

i did search the net for speed reach by overclocker, but it only speak of cpu speed and not fsb speed, so nothing to compare myself to...

I did have problems with my t-red 2400 hitting 400 fsb with pc3200 ram. those cpus had a stock fsb of only 266mhz. some things to try is using only 1 stick of ram if you've got 2. Also throw a fan on your northbridge if you dont have 1 already and research vmods for your mobo and see if you can raise your fsb or northbridge voltage.

If non of these appeal to you I would suggest dropping down to 333fsb and working your way up from there with a full multi (ei x9)

i must have made a mistake because i recheck with the motherboard manual, and retry...
200x10.5 the bios boot but windows will not work, i try raising the vcore and each time it seem to go a little farther but never completly.
200x10 seems stable right now (been 15min as i type this) with normal vcore

i didn't see anything about fsb voltage in the manual. only vcore, dimm and agp overvoltage control.
i have only 1 stick of ram. but i was planning of adding another 1gig someday.
no fan on the northbridge, but the board is supposed to go to 200mhz stock... should i consider adding a fan?

Some chips and mobo's just weren't as stable with the (x.5) or half multi's.

When running your stability test program, (orthos, prime 95, occt, or whatever) touch the Northbidge heatsink, does it seem very hot? If you think its "hot" and not just "warm" try adding a fan either on it or hang 1 with zipties to blow some air on the heatsink as that can sometimes help.
