Before I overclock my CPU...

Thread Starter
I have some questions.

Under CPU configuration is BIOS, there are a couple settings I am not farmiliar with.

Currently:

Limit CPUID MaxVal Disabled
Intel speedstep Disabled(This is also grayed out so I cant change it)
CPU Thermal Control Disabled
C1E Enhanced Halt State Enabled
Execute Disable Bit Enabled
Virtualizatoin Technology Enabled

I'm not sure what some of these are, and what I should set them too. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Also, under FSB & Memory Config, there is a setting for SLI-Ready Memory which is Disabled. Not sure what this is.

Other than that, I think I have a pretty good idea of what I am doing...Lets hope

yep, those settings are okay. Sli ready memory overclocks the memory by a certain percentage. aoubt 5-30% if I'm not mistaken.

you can begin overclocking, increase the FSB steadily.

Execute Disable Bit Disable
Virtualization Technology Disable

Set SLI memory to Expert Mode, and start overclocking!

Thanks, Ill disable the ones you guys said, except the C1E. I've read that people always disable it, but all it does is lower the multi when idle right? So I don't see any harm...or is there?

Disable C1E, if you intend to raise your CPU vCore. Also llok for any Spread Spectrum options and be sure to disable them too. You may aswell disable Execute Disable Bit and Virtualisation, unless ou plan on running multiple operateing systems at the same time.

This would automatically adjust your RAM to operate at the best settings depending on the FSB you set. If you're unable to set it to Enabled then that means your RAM isn't "SLI Ready". This simply menas you have to set the speed and timings yourself manually.

It could cause instability when testing your overclocks, i would disable it seriously.

You are correct.

It's sometimes C1E on it's own. Speed Step on it's own, or both of them combined as disable to run it at full speed during idle.

Leave it enabled..
