overclocking an amd 4200+

as you may know i have an HP computer, bus speed is at 200 cpu at about 2200, I wanna overclock my bus speed to about 220. But I cannot do it because HP turned off accessing bios. What are some programs or ways that I can access bios to turn up my bus speed. Help would be greatly appreciated.

you might be able to use something like clockgen
It's far from the best way to go about it but if you are desperate to overclock this might be worth a try

I wouldnt suggest using software to overclock, but its up to you. I would just save a good matx board with overclocking capabilities if you dont want to buy a atx case at present, as HPs use micro atx boards. Also a power supply upgrade would be well advised too.

If you can't overclock via the BIOS, then ClockGen is the only software you can try. If that fails then you're stuck with stock clocks until you get a better motherboard.

Just for comparison I got my AMD Athlon64 X2 4400+ to 3.0GHz and booted into Windows. I was running it off of a DFI LanParty UT RDX-200 CF-DR Motherboard, 4x512MB of OCZ DDR-600 Platinum Ram (running at DDR-500, CAS2). I believe I ran 250 x 12 to reach 3000MHz. Some people have been telling me I got a golden chip because I ran 31C idle with +0.05 vCore over stock. I had a Big Typhoon, completely stock, mounted with Arctic Silver 5. I bet if I get kept that system I could have ran 3.0GHz 24/7 at 25C idle.

That Big Typhoon definatley seems worth it and its not bad in price. Seems like decent upgrade. Im at 2.42 and its around 35c idle maybe 40c under load. but dont want to push it till I have better cooling. As of now the case has fans on just about every side. Wow I just put the voltage down to 1.3v and no problems.

Bios disabled?

I don't believe that, I work on them everyday, never seen one with the bios disabled....what are you supposed to do when you need to diagnos a problem or install something new???

No, I don't think so. Check again, or call customer service (which is hell).
