EVGA 680I boards (A1 version) seem to do just fine from what I have read if you still want an EVGA board.

Aren't the E6550's and E6750's dual cores though? Those are the ones he used to test.

Maybe it is just that Canadian people get thinks later than all.

On availability:
G0s hit mid level US distributors on monday. If I had wanted one, I could have had it by tuesday.
I've seen 6550, 6750, and 6850 out. No signs of price dropped quad cores, though.

and aren't these new g0 chip supposed to run cooler?

guess this goes to show though that running cooler doesn't mean better overclocking.
only time that is the case is for heat limited overclock. but doesn't mean you can't get voltage limited overclocking.

I guess it might have been MoBo related, we look at the G0 impressive numbers but we forget these were all achieved on the best MoBos for Quads and so on... P35's....

anywho... I am a tad worried about being one of the first to get G0 Q6600 from tankguys... I mean I am really hoping some people will already have picked up a few of these at Fry's before that and posted results... but either way I will benefit during editing... however... I REALLY want to get to my temperature ceiling one way or an other, I mean I am even considering hard-modding my P5N32-E SLI to remove FSB limitations... so if I get a G0 that doesn't hit 3.4 I will feel like my high hopes got shattered... 3.4 to 3.6 just black and blued... 3.6 to 3.7 stoked... 3.7+ permanent state of nirvana... (till 8-cores come out)

I have 4 of the G0 Q6600s ordered, and will compare them with the 5 B3 steppings. I am not expecting a miracle, and would have purchased them with or without the new stepping. The point about the nvidia chipset is very valid based on a number of reviews that were done as well as many OCers experiences on this site as well as others.

The point about the chip running cooler is not quite correct. The 15C decrease in TPD is saying that manufacturers of HSFs dont have to worry as much about temps as they did before. That can be translated as the chip runs cooler, or that it is ok to run it hotter than before, or that it takes less voltage to run at stock speeds. In any case, that is a potential good thing for overclockers.

There will most likely be some that get great chips, and others that get sub par overclockers. That is just the way it goes. Guess we will all find out in coming weeks.
