Hard Drive Scanner?

Thread Starter
Ok so I have a WD 160GB HDD and whenever I install an OS on it has a tendency of getting the Blue Screen of Death constantly. I know of a few programs that can scan the HDD to block off bad sectors and salvage what good there is still in the HDD. My problem though is I was wondering if anyone knows of a freeware program that can do that?

Use this program to write zero's to the hard drive, that will fix any problem so long as it's not a physically damaged HDD.

If you are getting BSoD during OS install... it probably isn't the hard drive. When you format it, the bad sectors should be remapped.

Check your system stablity and RAM?
Once again...
