Computer restarts on its own - Page 2

How would I go about uninstalling them? This is kind of leading into another problem I have of movie files playing sound correctly, but video turns to like red outlines unless I restart my computer(after a while though, it'll happen again).

It sounds like a heat problem on your video card. When the card gets to hot it artifacts which sounds like your problem. I would try to get some more cooling in there or if there is a lot of dust clean it out.

just uninstall any video card drivers you installed, then look for new drivers on google or you video card manufacturers site. I had the same problem except for the red screen thing and i solved mine by switching the drivers, never restarted since, unless I manually do it, ha that unless scared you huh.

  • Make certain you have the original.
  • Download the latest Drivers
  • Use Add/Remove Programs to remove the Dirvers.
  • Use a Driver Cleaner to make certain
  • Re-Boot
  • Run Driver installation manually from the location you downloaded them to.

Ok, I understood all of that except for the driver cleaner thing. What is that, and where can I get it?

I wish you'd had told me that safe mode thing ahead of time. I already did everything like Syrillian said, but not in safe mode since I didn't know about it.

This is rare but it happens. Mine was doing that last month. I spotted the problem to be the reset button due to thermal expansion when my room was warmer. I unplugged everything one by one until I spotted the problem realising its because I am using portable heater in my room. So check the reset button by unplugging it and see if it stops restarting. Some cheap casing have dodgy buttons that can't even resist a little temperature and shorts by itself.
