I agree that DX10 simply hasn't been around long enough to blow us away.....

Although Crysis seems like a pretty game. We'll just have to be patient.

heh, my 8800GTS in XP can't even cope with UT2004. it runs okay under Vista, but Vista has ****ty mouse lag for me.

i'm hoping things will be different for UT3, but I planned on running that under XP too... i'll pick dx9 over dx10 whenever i can.

Well dx9 didnt look much different to dx8.1 did it. Try runnig hl2 or css in 8.1, apart from hdr it looks pretty much identical to when you run it in dx9.

It probably wont shine until next gen cards and game in a year or so.

At which point i'll buy a 2nd 8600gt, OC it and sli it, and I'll be getting my share of 50 fps

I say the same thing as they said for DirectX 9.

WAIT FOR CRYTEK.

Far Cry was basically the first game to demonstrate DirectX 9. Or, it would have been if they didn't decide "That 5-minute tech demo we were making? Yeah, let's make that a full game."

I'm willing to bet Crysis is going to do the same thing. I was frankly very unimpressed with World In Conflict's looks. Lost Planet, I would say, looked very good, but had pretty bad framerates.

Some of you people really need to stop blaming it on the hardwares. Yes the current generation is DX10-capable, but neither nVidia nor ATi said they were made only for DX10. If you're gonna say "I'm only look back and laugh at the 8800/2900 when I get a 9800GTX", keep in mind that I'm laughing so hard at your 7/X1k-series cards right now and been that way since last year. Seriously, if you can't afford to keep up every generation, complaining in every DX10/8800/2900 thread isn't gonna help either, and I'm so sure that if one of you whiners receive a free 8800/2900, that person would complain no more. Save your fingers to post something productive rather than repetitively annoying.
