Dead Asus P5K Deluxe or Memory?

Thread Starter
I bought a P5K Deluxe last week and it has been running fine w/ e6600 + 4x1GB OCZ PC8500 at 3.25GHZ. This morning, it freezes right after USB check on boot sreen. I tried several reboot / power off without sucess so I did the CMOS reset. Then the screen won't show anything on power on (the monitor detect no signal from video card). However, the LED light on the motherboard is on and all fans connected to the motherboard are running.

So I took my board back to the store and exchanged for new one. After I installed everything it still display nothing during power on. After another trip, I come back with a new video card, but it didn't solve the problem. I did took out all three sticks and only leave one on the board since my previous P5K deluxe won't boot with four 2.3v spec sticks. I also removed mys HDD, PCI and USB device from the board incase one of them had a short circuit

I am going to buy a PSU tester to see if my PSU is bad tomorrow. Could it be the CPU or Memory that is fried? I mean if the CPU is dead, wouldn't fans stop working too? Any suggestion would be appreaciated

Do you have a different set of memory to try before you replace anything else. I would suggest you try that first. Can you boot with only one stick of memory in, and be sure to use one of the black slots, not the yellow ones. Try each stick single and see if it come back.

thx knitelife,

I got the it all sort out. It turns out the initial bios 0202 doesn't post with memory spec @ 2.3v, not even with only one stick installed. My previous P5K deluxe came with bios 03xx and will boot with one stick so I could change the memory voltage from default to 2.3v.
