Ohhhh this is going to turn into something horrible.

I do not have one, but I do really want one. However, I will not pay $600 for one. If AT&T was offering a discount with that 2 year contract, that would be different.
My advise is to either wait until AT&T starts offering discounts with a contract like any other phone, or wait until a 2nd version (with 3G) comes out.

I played with one for a long while.

I'd say give them some time to work out the many bugs (no MMS messaging, no MP3 tingtones, etc). It's just like the ipods, the first couple generations weren't that impressive, but they paved the way.

Right now IMO it's just a gimmicky gadget at a ridiculous price. Give it a while to graduate to a useful tool.

I won't buy one. You know why? You can ONLY use the SIM card that it was activated with. This means, well, you can't take a SIM card from your other phone and put it into an iPhone and have it work. This may also prevent the phone from being unlocked. I would only buy an iPhone if it were unlocked, because the AT&T network fails. Oh and the phone is EDGE only, not 3G, so internet is pointless on that thing unless you are using it's WiFi at either a hotspot or at home with your wireless network.

iPhone? iThink not.

I would rather have a Blackberry pearl, and carry along my PSP if I want WiFi internet with movies, music, and of course games.

If newer versions that come out later incorporate a better SIM card system and 3G capability, maybe I will consider it, but not at $500 bucks. $500 for a phone is just silly, especially when it's a "jack of all trades", but a master of none.

I would wait.

Let it mature.

Also for alot less you could get 2 mature devices that do the same thing

Guys, let someone who owns one post, someone with first hand knowledge who's used one for a while.

"Gahh noob. It's an Apple product! That said ALONE makes it not worth it!"

No No flame away and show everyone what a great forum we have

I bought one...for my webmaster Spiitz--and he positively loves it.

he has a website devoted to the iphone called www.iphonefanboy.com and there you will find more than you ever wanted to know about the iphone--I invite you to contact him via the website and ask him-as he is IMO an iphone guru.

I have seen his iphone in action and I am very impressed with the GUI. It's intuitive to the extreme and is very nice looking--the display res is high enough to browse the web etc--it's fast--it works perfectly from what I can tell.

If you have the bucks do it.
