This will be my first ever tutorial written completely by me (guitarcrazy44)

Ever had an old laptop that you wanted to install windows on but it had no cd drive or floppy drive?

Well heres how to do it:

WHAT YOU NEED:

1. desktop running XP

2. XP install cd

3. 2.5" Laptop HDD T 3.5" IDE PC Hard Drive Adapter (found on ebay for like $5) picture HERE)

4. DOS 7.10 (very hard to find so i posted download link HERE)

HOW TO DO IT

1. First download the DOS 7.10 listed above...

2. burn the contents of the file to a cd

3. open your desktop pc and remove all hdd's

4. remove your laptop hdd and connect it to your adapter

5. connect your adapter to your primary hdd IDE port on your pc

6. put the DOS cd in your cd trey and turn your pc on

7. follow the step by step GUI found when the cd boots

8. install DOS on the laptop hdd and BE SURE TO INSTALL SMART DRIVE!!! (included in the install process)

9. shutdown pc after install is done

10. replace your desktop HDD's

11. plug in the laptop HDD with DOS on it as your secondary HDD on your desktop

12. open the laptop HDD in "My Computer" and make a folder in it named "WINXP"

13. put the contents of your xp cd into the folder

14. plug your laptop HDD back to your LAPTOP

15. boot the system...

16. DOS should pop (it will be a blak screen with a white blinking cursor)

17. type C:\\WINXP\\I386\\winnt.exe

18. XP should install!!!

19. make sure to format your HDD back to NTFS as DOS 7.10 forced a FAT32 format

20 YOU SHOULD BE GOOD TO GO!!
