I was wondering if people think that it is worth upgrading to Vista now or waiting even longer? I have been thinking about getting the 32-bit OEM and then later paying the extra $10 to get the DVD to upgrade to the 64-bit atleast thats what I was told you can do. I was also wondering if anyone has had problems with it with programs some specific ones I have been when I had it installed were AnyDVD, CloneDVD, and iTunes. I was also wondering if I should get Home Premium or Ultimate? I could easily install business but that doesnt have the media center which is why I am gonna get either Home Premium or Ultimate

I like the x64 bit version. But it's pointless unless you're planning to use > 3gb RAM.

Vista x64 is great with 4gb or more of RAM.

Why would you want it? I certainly don't. If you aren't a gamer, then go for it! but if you play games a lot then don't even touch it! It uses a lot of resources. I would stick with xp.

EDIT: unless you want to play halo 2 and some vista specific games, darn M$!

i am more then happy with my jump to vista. I had some driver issues in the begging but it wasnt vista it was a conflict between ati and logitech. Other then that its been great. I would say home premium is fine. And i would just get the 64bit version that way if you ever get 4gigs of ram it will recognize it. If you game you are fine with vista thats over exaggerated. with my system i can run anything out perfectly fine. Vista is alot more hungry then xp but it also manages your resources alot better. As long as you have 2 gigs your fine for premium or ultimate if you dont have 2 gigs then get that first.

Ditto

No comparison IMO between 32 bit and 64 bit. 32 Bit runs like a 16 bit patch to an 8 bit Operating system on a 4 bit interface by a two bit company...

Vista is a good OS and it doesn't use as many resources as you may think.. Gamers get almost the same FPS now with newer graphics drivers and the upcoming SP1 should speed things up even more.

Vista is definitely worth it.

Dude, Vista only uses resources that the OS doesn't need!

If you read reports and such you would know that

Vista is awesome, i have never had ANY problems with drivers or games and don't regret buying it for a second.

If you plan on getting it, get the 64bit version. No point in getting 32bit now as they will force 64bit in a year or two anyways and drivers are nearly as strong as 32bit as well.

Get Premium, Ultimate is useless and even Ultimate users will admit that. also if you do plan on buying DX10 games it is definitely worth the upgrade anyways.

Also, i don't think you can upgrade from 32bit to 64bit with an OEM.

You have to buy it, you can buy 32bit and 64bit OEM's separately so that you don't have to send away for them.

Vista > all other OS's.
go with 32 bit if you have less than 3GB of RAM, go with 64 bit if you have more.
