Please no Core 2 comments i know they perform better but they also cost allot more and i am an AMD fanboy anyways and wanted an all AMD machine.

I am not too concerned with bottlenecking in the CPU department but what do you think of that? I would have gotten a 6000+ but this perfectly fits my budget on a 5200+ and they are almost exactly the same except for front side bus anyways. Now just to be clear i don't need to get a crossfire edition 2900 XT like i would with older cards right? And i don't need anything that doesn't come with the card? Also, is the brand of the card good? Any comments on the HDD Raid0 wim? Anything i missed? And of course, just whatever else you want to add.

~Thanks!~

  • I believe this is a good looking setup. You will need to add a extra 120mm to put in the back as an exhaust fan, unless you are going to reuse the rosewill fans that you have already.
  • The CPU might get bottlenecked by the Video Cards. As for the Video Card brand, ATi is overpriced, but I bought a card from them for the brand reliability. The new ATi cards use an internal bridge that doesn't require a master/slave set up, so you just buy two cards like nVidia.
hope my input helps

I have not used Ultimate before but i am very much accustomed with Home Premium which i use on my current PC. I originaly planned to have Ultimate but i am looking for ways to cut the price and Home Premium.

I was not aware that case had no 120mm exaust but ill look into reducing the price on my setup and see if i can fit in that and another small thing or two. I plan to reuse no parts I'm selling my monitor with this PC even though im going to use the same monitor on my next pc. ~ While were on the subject, lol i can't wait to see that 240mm fan!

About the 16Mb cache versions, how much better do you think that will do over the 8Mb? I hate to spend any more then i already have planned to on hard drives.

As for the bottlekneck i thought you would think the CPU would bottlekneck the cards. Lol!

Also on another note, anyone have any idea what the likeliness of problems with 4 dims are with identicle ram on a 5200+? I know the chances are WAYYYYY slimmer since im using exactly the same kits and a good brand on both motherboard and RAM.

get a corsair hx620 psu ($150 at buy.com) which is plenty powerful for that setup. the psu you selected is way overkill. with the extra cash get the amd 5600 or 6000 cpu, that way you wont have to worry about bottlenecking.

also check out the seagate 7200.10 hdd.

BE careful using the word overkill when speaking about a 2900 XT... 85Nm kills the planet!!

I will look at that i hear they are very good.

Update! : Changed to a Sapphire 2900 XT and saved 80 dollars per card! 160 dollars of funds now cleared up! Ill get the 16Mb cache and fans but i will choose carefully and consider the Seagates as well.

im aware of the power hungry 2900xt. it uses an 8-pin and 6-pin connector and they run pretty warm. the hx620 will will run it just fine though. if you are lookin to save cash look into a different psu.

check out this chart for some psu amp ratings:

Does it come with one or do i have to buy one?

I looked at the Seagates and they cost more for less power so I'm not going for that option.

Where do you buy those things that you use to wrap power cables and such. It is a net thing and the rubber bands to cover the ends.

Update : Changed to 16Mb WD HDD.
Update : Changed to IDE DVD drives.

you can buy sleeving from several places. many online stores have wire sleeves too like jab-tech.com, newegg.com should have some, frozencpu.com. i got mine from fry's electronics. just google wire sleeving.

sata opticak drives look cleaner and are slightly faster, but almost negligible.

the hx620 comes with 8pin and 2x 6pin connectors

I'm not familiar with what you refer to as the HX620. And yeah i would like optical DVD drives but they cost more and it looks like ALLOT of problems surround them, i can sleeve IDE cables to not hurt my air circulation nearly as badly.

the 5200x2 is a good choice.
the 6000x2 doesn't overclock as well.
