Neo, are you using the gateway win xp cd?

EDIT: Gonx look at his random access, it went from 17ms to 13ms. This definitely is not normal.

I was before, but not anymore, because I didn't notice a performance difference I just changed it back to Gateway. I also just re-did the test to make sure it wasn't a glitch, I got 3%, so it's fine in that area.

Neo, is CS:S still giving you the stuttering issues after this new install? Is this the 1,204 install ? lol Seriously I can't remember how many installs you've been through already.

Lol I think it might be the 300ish install :/, CS:S is updating right now, it is at 36%, but I'm sure the problem will still occur because I've done this a lot. I'll be able to tell for sure when it's done updating. And I might be able to get a new hard drive soon because Newegg is offering 20 dollars back if you buy 100 or more with paypal, so I might just get a new hard drive/keyboard like I wanted if I beg my parents.

I had another question, if I were to get another hard drive, and the hard drive was in fact the problem, would I still get better performance if I keep running the operating system on here and put the games on the new one? Or will it lower the performance because the old one is still in? Because I honestly do not want to format again, lol.

Neo, if the hard drive was the problem, I would recommend not using it at all. Who knows whats wrong with it, it most likely is starting to fail. This is hypothetical assuming the old drive was the problem. I'm not sure what drive you have your eyes on but definitely get a drive with a average seek time between 8-10ms, 8mb buffer would be nice too but the performance increase of 2mb vs 8mb is pretty small for a workstation user like yourself. Good luck NEO!
