ack router problem!

Thread Starter
I just updated the firmware on my Linksys WRT54G Ver 2.0 router, and it is not connecting to the internet. It's operating erratically, reseting itself every few seconds. The indicator lights say it's connected, but it's not.

Updated firmware: 4.21.1

Please help quick!

A little bit of googling came up with this:
Quote:
For those that haven't been keeping up with people posting and complaining of the same issues after upgrading to v4.21.1 of the Linksys firmware for the Linksys Router WRT54G Versions 1.0 - 4.0.

I'm not sure if there is any rhyme or rhythm to when it actually happens but it seems to occur on my router every few weeks. It will block access to the internet to all attached devices wireless or wired. I can connect to the router successfully and and even start the config web page in my browser wired or wireless. I can even ping outside the router using the diagnostic page. You have to perform a factory restart one the router to fix it. Which will only being to block your internet access again weeks later.

I would advise not upgrading to v4.21.1 until Linksys fixes the issue and wait for it to be fixed.

I had a Belkin that acted similar once. And I used the same fix as listed. Reset to factory defaults and had no more issues. Did you try that?

i would suggest getting a 3rd party firmware such as dd-wrt or tomato. I'm running dd-wrt v23 right now and it has solved all kinds of problems that i had with the stock.

I use to have to reset my router every few days and it was a pain to reconfigure my wireless. I had a neighbor connecting to it.

Wow, you got a ver 2.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WRT54G

Use 3rd party firmware to fully utilize your router.
