some games have different things they like. some might like more bandwidth on the memory other times they want more core bias. so what you see with performance on one program might not be true on others as they might favor something else.

didn't read anything about the game controlling the bandwidth.
Thats exactly what I meant

3dMark06=fail.

1) Proxycon, none of the attackers die?

2) Firefly Forest, its 2 fireflies in a forest, FAIL.

3) Dragon, I agree.

4) Deep Freeze, its the Arctic and it looks like its freezing, FAIL.

Why do we run benchmarks if they are not benchmarks for anything?

I honestly think my computer silently screams in pain and curse at me everytime I run 3dmark06.

then i put FEAR in to give it a run. 1280x1024 rez, most settings maxed except only 4xAA and 4xAF with soft shadows turned off. i was averaging about 100 fps in the game. then i switched to my friend's 22" monitor, set the game at 1680x1050, 6xSSAA, 16xHQAF, soft shadows on and all other settings maxed. the result? the exact same framerate i got with lower rez and lower settings. i can't wait to try Stalker and all my demanding games now.

my 3DMark06 score was about 60% higher on my first CF run, but the score was only higher because i got more frames per second. it doesn't take into account the fact that i can now power a 60" high def TV. it doesn't know that i have 96 shaders or that i can play with SSAA and HQAF at crazy high levels without affecting framerates by much at all.

anyway, i broke 10k my first time out with no OC . not bad for a couple of year-old video cards and a budget processor.
512mb vCard + 512mb vCard do not 1 GB vRAM make.

Although X1900XTX CF WILL let you run any resolution you choose.

I can understand that if you are using alternate frame rendering that it would would still act as though 512mb of ram
but what if you are doing half fram rendering. each card at that point would be rendering only half the screen and each rendering it's own image. so at that point they would act more seperate from each other wouldn't that be more like 1gb of ram then? if not then how does teh 512mb of each card get used?
