Good overclocking ram?

Thread Starter
I've finally decided that my ram is too crappy to let me overclock my system higher than i want (i KNOW that it can go higher than 2.64, it doesn't get even close to as unstable as my venice did at 2.5) so i figure i might as well get some good ram, and i was wondering what everyone's experience was with what they have. Perferably 2x512mb and decently priced. I think i might get OCZ Performance series, but i dunno how good they do when you overclock a system.

the reason why i think my newcastle can go higher, is because my venice would crash programs left and right at 2.5ghz, but this newcastle runs stable enough to run superpi32m at 2.64ghz

these look good to me. (assuming you're sticking to DDR1)

Looks like I'm not too bad at ram hunting. I had my eye on all of those.

While I'm at it, I might as well try to find the best overclocking board for S754

(yeah, this ram is KILLING me.)

haha, I don't have the cash to make a whole new rig. If i did though I'd build a BE-2300

anyways, here's what it took to get it superpi 1M stable (i didn't mean to write 32M up there)

as you can see, the cas is still at 2.5, it won't even post if i touch it, so it's stuck there

It may be a dumb thing to ask, but why don't you put the ram on a lower divider?

because it won't post with a lower divider

i'm not sure at this point whether it's the ram maxing out or if it's the cpu maxing out. I never played with the ram timings when i had the venice in here, so i might chuck it back in here on sunday (my next day off) to see how it does. i DO need a diffrent motherboard though. stupid biostar decided to only let you step the voltage based off a percentage, and i know voltage lower than 1.58 but higher than 1.52 for my venice

(btw, at 2.64 it crashes and reboot's a lot, fixing the ram like that helped though)

If the divider is playing tricks it may well be a mobo issue, more than a ram issue.

Btw, I OCed a 2800+ Newcastle @ 2.4GHz on a Asus K8N4-E (nF4 + PCI Express sk 754). I had several 754 mobos and this one seemed by far the best at overclocking. It went only 2.4 because of the lame stock cooling, but the noname ram was on a divider (133MHz) and didn't bother me much.

Hmm, do you know anywhere where I can buy it? I need a new video card, so i might as well save up for a card and the mobo. If i do get that mobo, i'm getting this card

no use getting a 7950gt (was gonna get it for my agp board) when that's nearly the best for 10 bucks more
