Even more RAID0 Questions...

Thread Starter
After much help from you guys on which RAID array I need, I decided on a RAID0.

I need more HDD space now, and am going to be building a new rig in the new year, so is it worth just getting the HDDs I'll want for that rig, now?

I'm considering getting a RAID0 array setup, by using two of these

(300 Gb Seagate ST3300620AS Barracuda 7200.10, SATA300, 7200 rpm, 16MB Cache)

And using a 500Gb external HDD to backup everything (Except the OS an applicatons) to.

Would this be an ok idea? My motherboard is this

And it's not all that, so would performance be ok? And would it be ok to get and use these drives for six months or so, then put them in a new Quad Core2 Duo system?

And can anyone recommend any good backup applications that would suit my needs?

Thanks.
Aaron

EXELENT choice on HDDS. In RAID0 those trives will KICK ass. you wont need any more space for another one or two decades. unless you decide to start downloading the whole internet like I did a few weeks ago...

Those HDDS will work on anything released in the next decade and should be okay(quads, Octocores etc..). in raid0 they will beat the speed of a raptor.
Backup applications? NOrton Ghost seems to be popular. but you wont need it since you dont plan on backing up your "windows installation" wich I dont think you should.

just copy and paste whatever you want to backup to the 500gb HDD from your raid array.
