they have weird names, which one is the HT? K8 to NB? I'm setting that at 4X (with ~250MHz FSB). So what's SB to NB, and should I leave that at 5X?

I might buy a used Opteron of the same stepping/week as yours. How much were you able to overclock it?

Yes leave the sb-nb at X5, unless you start too see stability issues over 300fsb, sometimes dropping it to x4 will help stabilize the system, but not in all cases. Yes the k8-nb is youre ht link speed.

I also have this strange problem. I heard using the overvolt made it more stable, so I enabled overvolt and set vcore to 1.25, so the end result was 1.42-1.44v... except now I can't restart the computer. it just hangs and the monitor powers down. i have to turn off and turn on the system. is the startup voltage for the CPU messed by this setting?

i could use the stable voltages though, but even with this, i see the vcore varying from 1.40 to 1.46.... :|

Hmm that is a strange problem, I too use the overvolt function as it gives more stable voltage flow. As far as your hang at shutdown, I really dont know, sorry.
