Screen resolution

Thread Starter
Ok so I figured out that these diagonal lines scrolling across my screen is caused by my desktop resolution. They appear when my resolution is at 1280x1024 and 1280x960, but not at any other res. Is there a way to work around this and fix this? I dont really like any other resolution.

Why would you use both of those resolutions? Those are completely different ratios and would warp things... depending on which is the correct one for your monitor.

Try changing the refresh rate while at those resolutions. This is done by clicking advanced then going to monitor on XP.

Yeah but it happens ingame in counter-strike as well. I use 100hz @ 800x600 in counter-strike, and I dont think I can go any lower or higher than 60hz @ those resolutions

Ok then why did you mention the other res? You can't use that other res because your monitor isn't that ratio. It would stretch the image.

I'm guessing you have a CRT? If it's slowly scrolling lines across your screen at every refresh rate, time for a new monitor.

first of all... are you sure they are "diagonal" lines and not horizontal..?

I would set the refresh rate by creating a profile in your Nvidia Control Panel, and make sure you set it to whatever your monitor's native refresh is...

also, you only want to set your monitor to whatever it's native resolution is.. otherwise you will be creating all sorts of problems giving you softness and "fake view" among other things...

if they are still there get Driver Cleaner and un-install your driver, then run the cleaner and download the latest driver and install it... then do the same steps above...

if that doesn't help it then you want to RMA or buy a new one...

unless.... you might have bad power... try plugging the monitor into a different socket... though that's a long shot
