Making a 3d model - Page 2

Google SketchUp if you've never done 3d modeling before....but definitely Blender 3D if you're willing to take the time to learn it. blender's a bagillion times better and complicated

here are a couple of my first models done with blender:

totally worth it to learn blender

unless you're willing to PAY for programs like 3DS max. better programs, but i'm cheap

im 15 and have been using 3ds max since i was 12 believe it or not lol
the beauty of max is once you learn it you can pretty much use any other cad program.
ive used lightwave, rhino, and maya and they are all fairly similar

Sketchup for computers, the other programs mentioned if you're doing something more detailed, such as a car or a weapon.

I'm 15, and im actually a 3d game artist and i do alot of assets for games. I use 3ds max 9.
Heres my deviantart gallery with some of my old stuff on:
http://oxig3n.deviantart.com

3DS Max and CAD are completely different animals. I feel that 3dsmax is alot more better. Also to the person who said 3dsmax was used to make toy story. Thats incorrect Alias Maya was used for that, 3ds max is rarely used in the industry, although its being used more and more now becuase Autodesk (creators of 3dsmax) bought out Alias (creators of maya) also, alot of people use 3ds max now. Only bother with 3dsmax if your serious about taking it somewhere. Otherwise stick to sketchup or something.

Also to mertz, lightwave, rhino, maya and 3dsmax are not a like. Rhino for example uses nurbs modelling. They do the same thing, just in different ways.

Blender is meh, CAD is meh also, try Gmax and if you want to go all out you know how to get 3dsmax

nothing about 3d modeling is easy and you can't go from program to program as they all have different modifiers (Tools and stuff) and different ways to edit mesh/polys/nurbs

thats true to an extent. As yeah, you have to learn the new PROGRAM. but you still know how to model.

I'm using Lightwave 9, I prefer it over the 3dsMax 8 that I have, I also have Maya 8, which if I do use it's in conjunction with 3dsMax 8, I'm a Lightwave fanboy haha...bigtime.
