You guys need to understand the difference between Visualisation programs(3ds max, maya, lightwave ect) and engineering programs (Catia, pro-e, Uni graphics, autocad.) the main diference is accuracy, CAD oprograms are very strict when modeling (V5 Catia a little less-so) and are very precise. CGI Apps are not so accurate and things are much easier to form into the required shape. They do overlap a little bit in function and use but that is where this ends.

Just think.. without 3dsmax you wouldn't have

Jurassic park, i-robot, 300 ect.. which were all made in 3dsmax.

plus plenty of Games we play.. models are originally created in 3ds.

Without cad you wouldn't have..

the latest Ferrari, Porsche, F1 cars, boats, Boieng, F35 JSF's, toasters.. you get the idea..

I've used 3ds since version 4 in dos. . max is version 5. and used engineering apps everyday in my job for over 10 years.
