Find someone with a 8800GTS who can get you a high-res picture with all the details, and as I said take it into the store...

i dont think so, i wouldnt know, but even so, htey would still need prove on why one of the capacitors snapped off, and thus it was when it was delivered.

all i need, is to know which capacitor i wil need toget, cause i doubt i can get one in the exat size and shape, but one that is in exact of technical, i was hoping if anyone here can help me identify one exactly through one of the pictures i have provided.

anyone may i ask? i know it has been awhile, but i have not yet found out what is the capacitor they use on the board. i am hoping as well someone here might have the same card as i do and can help me identify it as well.

and i dont know if i mentioned this already, but i emailed the echnicians a long time ago, and thus provided the pics that i have down here as well, and they tell me that its not only the matter of the capictor that is the problem but they say that they can se damage to the board itself and its not the case only to just soldier a capacitor on. now this really irratates me, through confusion. you lot are saying its just the matter of putting one on, and they say the board is damaged.

looking at the pics, does it looked damaged may i ask>?

there does appear to be some damage to the pcb (the board). see the silver square? that is there to reflect heat during assembly. it looks like someone already cooked the board when they tried to replace the capacitor. notice the faint bubbling and the lipped silver square? definite signs of heat damage.

the cap may have been snapped off when he got it, but someone already tried to remount the cap. also notice the extra solder on the contacts, that is not from the factory soldering. at the factory it is al dont by high precision machines that use very little solder and almost no heat. that was done by hand by some hack who couldnt solfer

You know.. it is a new card.. you can probably get the manufacturer to replace it.

It does look like there is some damage to the trace below the solder pad, with any luck, it's still intact. I doesn't look like anyone has tried to solder on this yet. The lead from the cap is still attached to the pad, it gave it a good yank when it come off.
You can try soldering on a new one, it will work or it won't. You will need a very fine tip on your iron beccause these are surface mount electrolytic capactors and the leads are mostly under the base. Make sure the polarity is correct, line up the outline on the PCB with shape of the base.
I can't find the exact manufacturer but here is a cap of the same package and value. 16volt,180uf.

Let me know how it turns out and good luck,
John

ohh i see, well thats a good start, now i know what capacitor to get.

but i am still confused on wheather it was accidentally snapped off, or if someone did try to have a go at resoldering it.

he did claim that it does still power up but of course no signal or connection can be seen because of that damage. but even so, can it still be repaired?
