well thanks to Jkenzie he has linked me to this site:

http://uk.farnell.com/jsp/search/bro...questid=245654

which is basically what im looking for, thus being on the safe side of things, its SVP, 180uf 16V (i am literally counting on this now), and i am on the verge on registering just to order them, but which one im asking, due to the Case style; F8 and E12. Only 2 are available, as the 3rd one is out of stock bbut that doesnt matter to me as i have the better one still up.

hope that helps.

The 320MB/640MB versions of the 8800GTS use the old G80 core and only have 96 shader processors. The new 512MB 8800GTS utilises the newer G92 core and has 128 shader processors and is capable of running at much higher clocks.

The damage shown in the pics you've posted looks like one of the inner layers of the PCB is exposed. Multiple layers are used for a reason, insulation, and if the inner tracks are exposed to external interferance the card won't work even if you do manage to get the correct capacitor.

Bin the card and get an 8800GT. Never buy computing components in the same condition again unless you have a good amount of previous experience in soldering.

Both the G92 8800GT and G92 8800GTS are superior to the older G80 based 8800GTS card. Even the cheap 8800GT comes close in performance to the 8800GTX. Although the 8800GTX is still the card of choice for those running at resolutions over 1280x1024/1680x1050.

I used to run 8800GTS 640MB SLi, then sold one of the cards as I needed some funds to go towards uni accomodation for the following year. I've since sold my remaining 8800GTS 640MB to replace it with 8800GT SLi. I'm happy with the upgrade but I would never recommend the 256MB or 1GB version of the 8800GT though.

There are no problems with the 8800GT apart from it's limitation of only being able to effectively use up to 512MB of memory, the same as the new 8800GTS 512MB. The card does run a little warm but this is easily remedied by replaceing the single slot stock cooler with a good quality after-market one.

Bin your broken card and either go for a G92 8800GT 512MB at about £160, or a new G92 8800GTS 512MB for £190ish to £200.

This time stay away from spares and repair components from ebay. Unless you know how to fix them why buy them? You don't what to look for and you don't know what is repairable or not.
