Need a First-time overclock guide (Opteron 165)

Thread Starter
I just got my new processor and it's been performing well. However, I'd like to overclock it at least a little bit...

The unfortunate thing is, I don't know the first thing about all the values available in BIOS. I have Phoenix BIOS, and would like to know what are the steps I should take to increase my performance.
Sorry if I haven't given enough information, I can try to help with whatever's necessary.

Thanks, the guide is pretty useful...but the only problem is I'm really having trouble figuring out how the values mentioned tie into what my BIOS says. It seems like nothing is exactly as it's labelled in the guide; I can't find HTT, the setting where I would make memory SPD, the multiplier (it has CPU Ratio, which sounds like the closest thing...), CPU-Memory Ratio, etc. I'm basically looking for something that can give me a few pointers as to what best fits the descriptions of the values indicated in the guide. That, or a guide that specifically relates to my type of BIOS.
Sorry I'm asking a lot of questions...but I'm just trying to be careful. I just got this CPU, and I want to be sure I don't screw something up badly.

The HT... do keep it under 1080, most good 939 MBs can do up to that speed and be stable... some even higher but it can be a pain in the OCing process.
The MSI peeps can correct me if I'm wrong, but if I recall correctly MSI uses 1000 for 5x, 800 for 4x, and 600 for 3x.

Don't worry about screwing things....
Keep the voltage increases minimal and watch your temps. 50c @ full load is the recommended max.. a few over that is still safe.
Do test with OCCT or Orthos! When you reboot, if you get any video anomalies you know something is off so don't bother testing, reboot and tweak the BIOS further!
What is the more likely thing to screw up is the OS with corruption, so move up slow, test as recommended and you should be able to avoid the OS issues too!

NOTE: Check the "Device Manager" for the "Computer" and see if your showing a "ACPI Multiprocessor PC" to assure your OS is recognizing both cores!

I don't see that, but I do see two processors listed. Also, the Performance tab of Task Manager shows two seperate graphs.

I'm still a bit confused about the memory clocking. I can't change the CPU->Memory Ratio (at least, I can't find out how to...), it's listing any memory value above 2.5 as red (very dangerous), and I'm still unsure of what is meant when someone says "memory timing = #-#-#-#"
EDIT: Okay, I figured out the memory thing (If I'm right, it's CAS latency, then tRP, then tRCD, then tRAS, right?) I followed that guide and when I set my memory to 2-2-2-4, I just recieved this long beep from my motherboard upon restarting. I reset CMOS, then tried keeping certain values at default, but to no avail. Also...it seems to tell me to increase my HT when it's already at 5x, and it never told me to decrease it. Man, these things are confusing.

Hey, I'm back...I have managed to get the Opteron to a feeble 2.1 Ghz from 1.8. However, I am having trouble figuring out the following.
How to change CPU-Memory Ratio (someone told me to look for 'memclock index', which was there, but it was a definition in Mhz)
LL and High Bandwidth memory (how would I be able to tell what I have? Also, I bought my memory on two occasions, so they may be different from each other.
What is meant by HTT? This is a value I can't seem to change in the BIOS.
At times after changing a setting, my screen will not show anything on powerup until I completely reset the CMOS. What could cause this?
