I thought there were multiple valid SVChost.exe files... Maybe try ending the process of each of them till you hit the jackpot? idk lol...

Ummm you did get rid of that keygen right. Seems like the most logical thing to do.

We are talking about the windows search...just clarifying. Not the process window. Yes, you will have multiple Svchost.exe processes, but you should only have 1 instance svchost.exe on your hard drive. And like said above....the real one is 14,336 bytes big.

Disable some protocols and it should subside your memory usage...

The 14kb svchost.exe is the Windows Audio services. You should disable the following Services:

Messenger (Windows internal messaging system)
Netmeeting (disable if you don't use it)
Remote Access Auto Connection Manager
Remote Access Connection Manager
Remote Registry
Routing and Remote Access
Task Schedular
TCP/IP NetBIOS (if you don't share connection & files)
Telnet (if you don't use it)

Download HiJackThis v1.99.1 from here: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html (This site is 100% safe&legit) Download/Extract HiJackThis.exe to your drive root such as C:\\ and not desktop nor any folders, then rename it to probn4lyfe.exe so it is less likely to be detected by the malwares. Reboot in Safe Mode and open HJT, run a "Scan & Save Log" then go here to post your log, wait for their analyst to help you: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/forum22.html

I doubt that keygen was a trojan. All antivirus programs consider anything like keygens "Hacking stuff" though they identify it as something.

Do you have System Restore on? Preferably disable it and reboot to Safe Mode and scan.
As Chrimson said ... a HJT log would be helpful!

it is a windows problem, most certainly not a virus. there is a windows update that fixes SVC from hogging up ridiculous amounts of resources. I am not sure windows update will fix it, but there is a fix you can install, I think from the microsoft website.
