Succesfull OC, but...

Thread Starter
I just OC'd my computer, and it boots up to windows fine. Haven't done any stress tests yet, but i was wondering why my computer wont restart on its on. Lets say you goto shutdown and hit restart, it will shutdown windows and all but then the screen goes black like if its off and nothing happens. I then have to turn my computer off manually then turn it back on to work

I have a P4 2.4ghz (northbridge), Soyo P41 845PE Lite MB, 2gigs of ram, 330 PSU, Raedon X800 XT 256mb.

My memory is DDR333, so i was able to get my FSB to 166 to match the ram. Currently @ 2.98ghz OC'd , 1.650Vcore.

Any help is much appreciated.

The bios always says 45c, which is why i put it up that much. I ran the stability test on Everest to see the temp, and it said hardware failure and stopped. The temp was reading around 15-65c, it jumped to 80's once.

I have it back down to 1.5v now, its @ 2.78ghz. Going to run the test again and ill post it in a few

Never go above 1.5 vcore no matter the temp, with air youll fry ur chip. Your temps should also never go above 60c. I personaly dont go above 1.450

I tried leaving it stock (1.48) but it wouldn't go past 2.6 without locking up. What other method should i use to OC? Or should i stop @ 2.6?

As long as you will upgrade soon enough.. Use 1.5 or a BIT above. This chip obviously was made for high voltage....

Ethier yur cpu or your whole rig. He's saying that because if you use higher then 1.5 it drasticly decreases the life span of your cpu.

EDIT: Also no matter what your bios says your stock is not 1.48.
