Next Version of Windows in 3 Years - Page 2

3 years? that seems kinda soon.....do they honestly expect people to shell out another $xxx in three years for windows 7? Is vista really that inadequate that a replacement is needed so soon?

The pipeline at MS is quite remarkable, I don't think everyone grasps how far they extend into the future. I'm sure most think they have a majority of there resources working on Vista updates and DX10 games, while most of it is skewed toward 2010+. I'll bet they have their OS's at least layed out into 2015. With the manpower MS posesses - they can devote a large portion of their time to navigating future products and releases.

FOR ALL WHO ARE WONDERING I HAVE IMPORTANT INFORMATION SO READ!!

The next version of Windows is called Viena (codename may not be official.) It won't have a start bar, but some more advanced system of window management. I don't have details on the next management system but i know it will be completely new. The no start bar thing was passed back and forth between Vista and Viena although, unfortunately, it got stuck at Viena (this was long before Vista got allot of attention.) Thats the last of what i know about Viena other then it will not be DX10.

Source? Early information everyone forgot about. I do mean way back around Vista beta 1 release.

My vista works fine also, i love it

But i seriously think they need to work on Vista more than work on some new OS if they put more time into Vista they could have it working better than XP they shud scrap the whole idea of a new OS bcz imho its just to early for a new OS Vista has only just been born and ppl are just starting to switch now they feel comfortable with it M$ do ur self a favor and work on what u already have

Windows 7 sounds like crap to me. Vista is are ready horrible. I hope service pack 1 will fix things up.
Wow, how are you going to sit there and diss vista which runs pretty damn well, so what some driver support isn't there. How long was Vista in beta and release candidates??? You would think that during that time companies would have taken the time to write drivers that worked correctly. but the average consumer just blames it on vista because they have no idea what they are talking about... And wow, you are going to criticize an os that isn't even being coded for yet (more than likely they have a time line with hopeful release dates) Maybe you should sit down and write an operating system that works PERFECTLY, the name is the catchiest thing on earth but still can run on old hardware because people don't want to progress.....end rant

I agree, but who knows the way the industry is advancing. On one hand, 3 years is really soon. On the other, we still need sp1 for vista to come out and thats gonna be not even in a year I hear. So yeah, too soon IMHO.
