At the moment you should go with Nvidia for their DX10 cards.... either get a 8800GTX (An incredible card, seriously incredible), or a 8800 GTS 640mb (Great card, will run everything at high for about the next 1 and half years).

This is my philosophy at the moment on GPU's.

DX9 Cards - Go ATI
DX10 Cards - Go Nvidia

This will probably all change with the second gen of DX10 GPU's though.

ok then if you all say that nvidia is apparently better than ati ill get an nvidia
and yes im gonna go with dx10 and ddr2 but ill pick a mobo that supports ddr2 & ddr3 so i can change it later on

well it all depends on my budget, if i get the rest of the money earlier ill obv build it earlier
