Best overclocking board? (P35)

Thread Starter
Hey.

As the topic says, i'm wondering which of the P35 boards out is the best overclocker?

I've been looking at the Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R, but after reading some mixed reviews i'm not so sure anymore.

Can i have some good suggestions for a overclocking board? I prefer if you've had first hand experience with any of them.

GIGABYTE MoBos are great for overclocking, the mixed reviews you hear or saw are probably from people that don't have that much experience at overclocking.

Just like there are people saying that ASUS boards are not good, meanwhile that's all I've ever used and to this date since 2001, I've had nothing but great results with every ASUS board I got.

Right now the best choices for overclocking an Intel CPU are from either ASUS or GIGABYTE, other than that? I wouldn't get nor recommend any other. And BTW, both with Intel chipsets IMO.

Most reviews I read of any Gigabyte/Asus P35 as well as the Abit IP35 Pro have been very good. They all seem like very solid boards, Overclocking included.

This will be a good read for you if you want to know more about the various P35 boards. The conclusion also shows the FSB hit on each board.

Thanks for all the replies.

I think i will go for the GA-P35C-DS3R as i already had planed.
According to Toms Hardware, its a good overclocker and it have support for DDR3 for a future upgrade.

I just hope the Thermalright 120Ultra Extreme fit on the board.

I have the abit ip35 pro and it is a great overclocker both for the cpu and ram. I dont think anyone else here has one so your not going to get any recommendations from them for this board but IMO it is great.

Mine tops out at 540fsb with my cpu (cpu limited) and will oc ram as far as it can go. I have had my ballistics to ddr2 1200 with 5-5-5-15 and 2.2vdimm.

I've changed my mind. I'm going with MADMAX22's recommendation.
I'm getting the abit IP35 Pro.

MADMAX22: Do you think the Thermalright 120Ultra Extreme will fit the board?

I dont see why it wouldnt, the stock heatpipe arrangement on this board doesnt take up much space and they have the caps away from the socket area. Should work jsut fine.

Okay, that's good to hear.

It's just that i read something about large cpu-coolers wont fit the board cause of the heatpipe cooling solution.

Quote:
"At the same time, I cannot claim that it is the best chipset cooling solution out there, because it is evidently more expensive to manufacture and doesn’t allow installing some of the large CPU coolers." Source
