Lapping my E6420.

Thread Starter
Alright guys. I plan on lapping the IHS on my E6420. I bought the premium lapping kit from easypckits.com to carry this out. The instructions say to use water for lubrication. Would it be safe to just drip a little water on the sandpaper that I'm using to lap the IHS? Or should I just go it dry?

Quick answers would be appreciated. I'm currently lapping my Tuniq Tower.

Thanks.

I used water with a drop of dishwashing liquid for my Scythe Infinity.

But, I used dry lapping for my CPU. Just no need to do wet for your CPU.

The wet/soap approach works well with a big, top heavy CPU cooler like the Tuniq or Infinity ... but for the CPU ... not really necessary.

...

If you go dry, ... just keep a can of compressed air on hand to occasionally clean your sandpaper.
