This time, it's for reals...

Alright... So heres's the deal: I got my Transcript and I showed my parents. Now they are allowing me to purchase my computer (finally!). They said I can use all of the money I have, which is just about $800. So, I'm thinking about getting:

-2x1GB of G. Skill DDR2-800 HZ Ram from newegg, $130
-Intel Core 2 Quad Q6660 Processor from Tankguys, $300
-Asus P5K Deluxe/WiFi-AP Motherboard from newegg, $220
-Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme CPU Cooler from newegg, $65

That will sent me back ~$800 shipped. I am wondering if I should change any of the parts, without going over $800 shipped. Secondly, does anybody know of a trustable retailer/e-tailer that sells Arctic Cooling MX-2?

Lastly, would an Ultra-120 + 2 Fans be too heavy? For example, would it put stress on my motherboard, or, is it fine?

Thanks!

An Ultra 120 Extreme will put some stress on a motherboard even if it's run without fans. As long as the motherboard is thick enough, which given it's a P5K Deluxe, I would expect it to be, then you shouldn't have a problem.

Everything else seems to be perfect, and I don't think the Arctic Cooling MX-2 is available anywhere yet. Hope everything turns out well!

Alright, thank you. I've seen some people running Ultra eXtreme's + 2 Fans but I was just wondering. I don't want to bend my motherboard...

I guess I'll have to stick with AS5. By the way, I'm going to mount my fans like this:

With zipties

Why don't you just get a Tuniq Tower 120 for $50: http://www.svc.com/tuniq.html

It's proven to be one of the best coolers for Intel CPUs "and" it comes already with a 120mm fan along with a controller. Why will you pay extra for that?

I already have 3 Antec TriCool 120mm Fans and 1 Scythe SFF21D Silent Fan, so, that's not a problem. Should I really go with a Tuniq Tower 120 over a TR Ultra eXtreme? Also, I want MX-2!

If you don't want to save $15? Then get the TR from egg.

And I never seen anyone having an MX-2.

It'd be fine. So long as you use all the screws to attach the board to the case, you'll be all set. The mounting bracket is plenty strong.

Wow dude this is about your 10th thread about this build and people always give you suggestions and you just ignore them. I am not attacking you or anything but this is getting ridiculous.

Get the tuniq and save money.
Get the ballistixs and save money.
And JW... there is no GPU in that config... I'm assuming you already have it?

What's up with your parents having to approve you spending your own money? That's wack.

And you only haev $800 and your spending it all on your computer, so you're going to be broke? Sounds like bad planning to me...

But it is a good build!
