Speedfan vs CoreTemp

Thread Starter
Okay pretty much ive got both these programs and they both give different readings on my cpu. Ive got a q6600 and these are the temps right now at idle.(degrees celcius)

SPEEDFAN:
Core0: 22
Core1: 18
Core2: 20
Core3: 17

CORETEMP:
Core0: 36
Core1: 34
Core2: 35
Core3: 32

As you can see these are VERY different and i want to know which is right.
Thx

Try out EVEREST 2007 Beta.

Download > Install > Open EVEREST > Click Computer on the left > Select Senors

CPU - Do not look at this.
CPU #1 / Core #1 - Look at this.
CPU #2 / Core #2 - Look at this.
CPU #3 / Core #3 - Look at this.
CPU #4 / Core #4 - Look at this.

It should be the same as CoreTemp.

If coretemp shows your Tjunction at 100c, you can subtract your temps by 15c. If it shows 85c, then it's probably accurate.

All I've heard is people saying that, but I have yet to find any proof on it. The 85C thing is correct, but where's the proof about the 100C?
