Q6600 or Q6550? (until Penryn)

Thread Starter
Now that the Intel price cuts are here, I am pondering my options. Regardless of what I get, I will be putting it in a rig to sell to my friend when Penryn comes. Right now I'm leaning a little bit towards the quad for several reasons.

-I can sell it for more
-Better performance in some apps (Crysis )
-It's fun to say

If I do go quad I could RMA it when G0 is released ( I think you can do that )

What do you think?

:edit: Sorry I meant to say E6550

Buy from Tankguys, they guarantee you that you'll get a G0. So no need for RMA.

And IMO, go for the Q6600 if you can, if not the E6550 will be good too. Either way you go? it will be the right way.

After looking at the list of pre-orders, I think I will take my chances. I already have my other stuff for the rig and my patience only stretches so far.

lol

"it's fun to say"

That's all the reason you need!

IMO go quad, it will be more futureproof and will sell for more.

If you are getting it from the egg, tell me if you get the old or new stepping, 'cause I'm gonna order my Q6600 from egg too.

I agree. It sounds much better.

I think I'm gonna get it from MWave, because at only $280, its a great deal. If it gets a pretty good overclock, I probably won't worry too much about the stepping. I will let you know what revision I get when it comes in.

Good luck with that! Well, as said somewhere else, I agree that the probably have the new G0 chips mixed in with the old B3 ones. They just grab one, pack it, and ship it.
