Yep, I'm 700 feet too far away from the nearest switch for DSL and I know AT&T isn't gonna fork out for a new one any time in the near future. money isn't an issue, just availability. I'm paying way too much for sorry wireless service as it is, so I'd jump to DSL in a heartbeat.
I think I'd be better off with dialup because my service is down more often than it's up. Every time I call tech support they have a convenient excuse...usually a cut trunk line or lightning hitting the tower. My service was down from Friday night till this afternoon, and even now it takes multiple attempts and several minutes to load a page.
For what it's worth, I played Asheon's Call 1 and 2 on dialup (AC2 has been discontinued though), as well as Shadowbane and Ultima Online. They're all old games but I got some enjoyment out of them at the time. As light on resources as it is, you might be able to play Guild Wars on dialup if you avoid the most popular areas. All combat areas in Guild Wars are instanced so the most people you will ever have with you in one is 6.

Depends on where and when he bought it. I remember paying over $200 for a 3700 a few years ago. Not everyone knows to buy their stuff from newegg either, and some places get away with charging alot more due to buyer ignorance.
