Wow the 8800GTS is a BEAST!

ok i bought mine awhile ago (640mb), from all the reviews and talk about this card everywhere i know ill be getting something really beefy and can spit out some monster frames on my games.

so i installed all the usual games i play, FEAR, Oblivion, Supreme Commander etc, and to my expectations i can run all at max settings (1680x1050), a totally new gaming experience for me. in oblivion i cap out at 60 FPS everywhere, indoors or out.

ok so today got a copy of CM DiRT from my friend and installed it, this is a hugely gfx intensive game totaling out to be a 12GB installation. i was hoping that i can run it on high (1680x1050) with no lag, but what i didnt expect was that my pc was able to take it on Ultra with heavy AA/AF together with every option turned on and was still able to run it as smooth as butter. the result on my 226bw was seriously comparable to Motorstorm on PS3 i played awhile back.

with this kind of performance from a GTS i dont see why anyone would want to by a GTX or even the Ultra???

Well if you're a benchmark freak, you can never get a card fast enough. If you just like to play the games, on a reasonable size monitor, the GTS is more than enough for today's games. One might buy a GTX/Ultra because it's useful life span will probably be longer than the GTS in terms of playable-ness of future games.
