Ram worries?

Thread Starter
First off is there any way to be able to tell the temps of your Ram? I have some basic Kingston value Ram, I just upped the volts to 2.0 and it is running at 684mhz. It is only 533mhz DDR2. If I up the volts once more to 2.1 or 2.2 what kinds of permanent damage could it cause if any to the Ram itself? Will it just not post with no damage? And right now with it at 2.0 stable, When playing gamesor something else memory intensive can your ram heat up and get damaged or will the system just crash with no permanent damage? I am trying to up my cpu speed, that is why I want to up the volts on the Ram. That is the only way I can getmy E6400 higher than 342*8 with it at 1:1 FSB/DRAM. Or does some one have a better Idea on how to get me to my Goal of 360*8 2.88 MHZ. I am very close, just a little more Please. I am doing the testing now so when Crysis comes out I will be at a stable 2.88, able to crank it up when I need to.

try touching your RAM, if its not hot, theres nothing to worry about. (yes, you can touch it when its running)

If you add too much ram volts to your ram will or could it cause permanent damage while trying to exit your BIOS screen? Makes sense if you can touch it then it is not too hot though. I am just nervous about pooching my ram by adding that little too much juice. And I was poking around last night and I can't find the area were you CAN change the ram timings. Can anybody tell me how to find it or change them to a looser setting? that might also give me that extra MHZ of cpu speed I am after.
