To do so- In a terminal (In accessories) do this:

sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf
Enter your password
scroll down in the file untill you see something like this:

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Section "Screen"
Identifier"Default Screen"
Device"Generic Video Card"
Monitor"Generic Monitor"
Defaultdepth24
SubSection "Display"
Depth1
Modes"1024x768""800x600""640x480"
EndSubSection
SubSection "Display"
Depth4
Modes"1024x768""800x600""640x480"
EndSubSection
SubSection "Display"
Depth8
Modes"1024x768""800x600""640x480"
EndSubSection
SubSection "Display"
Depth15
Modes"1024x768""800x600""640x480"
EndSubSection
SubSection "Display"
Depth16
Modes"1024x768""800x600""640x480"
EndSubSection
SubSection "Display"
Depth24
Modes"1680x1050" "1024x768""800x600""640x480"
EndSubSection
EndSection

-----------------------------------------------
Then in the colour depth you want to use (24 bit most likely) insert your resoloution like so. "1680x1050"
(Its just quotation marks, numbers, and an x)

If you can see, the 24 bit depth on mine is at the bottom. Add the resoloution you want- if you notice I put in "1680x1050" because by default I only had 1024x768...

Then close the file, saving it, and either restart the computer, or just X.
(The simple way to restart X is ctrl+alt+backspace. If it doesnt restart itself and goes to a terminal, type startx)

Hope this helps!
Tried that after that it only lets me choose 800x600

You choose the resolutions you want with the arrow keys and then select (highlight) them with the space bar..... Maybe that was the problem? Sorry...

Oh, for the F@H on Ubuntu, click http://folding.stanford.edu/download.html to download, and click http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=101817 for the how-to.

I wish I could fold again... :-\\
