Hey guys,

I'm having a BIG problem. Basically, I keep getting the dreaded BSOD with the following error: "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL"
I'm running windows XP service pack 2. I have the latest drivers for my hardware and everything is set up in windows correctly.

What should I do? This error only happens in XP..NOT in Vista! I really want to stay with XP b/c the performance is better in games.

Are there any settings in the BIOS that I should toy with?

Is this a windows problem OR a problem in the BIOS?

Thanks for your help

if it were the BIOS you'd get the problem in Vista too. must be XP being crappy again...

There is a driver name listed right after that error. That is the important part. What is it?

Unplug the hdd's and replug them in. This can be caused by a loose cable.

Crap I forgot to write down the driver....I can barely remember it..but it was a ".sys" file. It was something like "nvrdm.sys" Something like that. What's really weird is this: My motherboard supports nvidia dual net technology, so I went to the nvidia website and downloaded the newest chipset drivers. After it installed, i rebooted my PC,,,got back into windows. When I tried to enable network "teaming" I got the BSOD with the same error I'm getting now!

What's even more weird is that when I tried to uninstall the chipset driver, I got another BSOD...so what i've done now is I uninstalled the chipset driver through safe mode,,and I installed the driver off my ASUS cd WITHOUT installing the network TEAMING option.

Maybe the dual net teaming option was causing an IRQ conflict. don't know though...any other suggestions?

Now that you have done all that, if it were me I'd drop back 10 yards and punt. Reinstall windows from scratch and then load the chipset drivers and then enable your netword thingy you were talking about. Keep track of what you do as you go along and find out what causes it. Also, we need that driver name. That is the most important part of solving the problem.

Since when do you get these BSODs? nvrm.sys is a Nvidia driver. Try other graphics card drivers. Also there is an option like NEtworking or something for Asus mobo´s like yours and mine. I don´t remember it´s name(and i´m not home), but go to Nvidia control panel>networking and turn off everything what to do with networking there.

When I did that I got no BSODs anymore.

I'm still getting the BSOD. Any other ideas? Someone mentioned something about a setting in the BIOS that could be changed. What setting is it?

Any other feedback is welcome.

Reset CMOS. Maybe that could help, but I don´t think so. Because it´s an issue with a driver, Vista has better drivers that´s why you don´t get the BSOD in Vista. You should find what driver it is and where it´s needed for. Then delete it or the program. Or use different drivers.
