S/PDIF (Optical) on Mobos

Thread Starter
I've seen s/pdif (optical) outputs on mobos for some time now (mine has one, and the one I'm about to buy has one)

Well, besides watching DVD's, are there any other good uses for it? I haven't found any games that can use it.

Thanks

music, onboard analogue sound is pretty crappy. the DAC in a receiver would be better.
