Newb Trouble OC on AMD 4200+ X2

Thread Starter
I have been trying to overclock my CPU by increasing the FSB from the stock 200 to 210, but as soon as I boot into windows, PC Probe tells me that my processor is running at like 80 C. Even I know that this is not Good. I have read many posts saying that they have gotten substantial gains using this processor. Any Idea what's going on?

I have not touched any of my voltages or any other OC options in the bios.

I'm hoping that someone will have the solution to my problem as I have scoured google for the past couple days looking for a solution.

EDIT: My CPU temp on stock settings is 38 C.

Don't use Pc Probe for starters. Only OC from the bios.
Edit: Did you seat the cpu right? I know you probably did, but it's strange that never got a temp that high even before I went H2O on my 4200+. Even with more OC than that.

In my BIOS I still get a CPU temp of 80 C even though Everest tells me otherwise. On Everest, what would the 'aux temperature reading be for? Just wondering because it is relatively close to my BIOS readout for CPU temp.

on my board it ran aux at 96c full load and ive got an asus board too. the only things that would get that hot on the motherboard would be the mosfets next to the cpu socket so i imagine its probably that. i was worried about that too, i posted a thread a couple of months back about the same thing, its Here

The cpu you have will not be running at that temperature so dont worry what everest is reading is correct. are you new to overclocking or have you done it before?
