For the record i am not anti-rights or any crap like that but its ridiculous how theres all this hoopla everytime theres something like this surfaces..
If you have an obsession with privacy then put all your illegalz on an external drive. Goodness.
Think about this...I was in the US Army from July 1998 to Feb 1999 (medical discharge). Since 2001 or so, once I settled down and got a permanent address, I have received 6 different letters at different times from the US government telling me that through some minor glitch, my personal data such as my full name, DOB, driver's license #, and Social Security # have been compromised. Of course I'm never told HOW this data has been compromised or how many former soldiers have been affected, but I have an image in my head of random laptops laying around (like in FEAR) containing all this personal info and freely available for the general population to peruse at their convenience.
Now this same government expects me to "trust" them with my full internet history, including banking and financial info? I don't think so.
Another thing about this trust issue...we're supposed to trust them to do the right thing and use this data responsibly? We can't even trust them not to take a dump all over the constitution. We can't trust them to use LEGITIMATE data from spying in a proper manner...that's what got us into Iraq in the first place. Trust hell, I trust them like I would a rabid dog with it's jaws to my throat.
