Get the E4300 not 4400, and a Gigabyte DS3 (or BIOSTAR TForce P965PT if your budget doesn't allow)
and you can OC that thing to ~3GHz easy with a Good CPU cooler

erase that ~$150 for "Cooling Controller and Cooling fans" you can get TOP OF THE LINE fans and a great fan controller all under $50 easily. (thats 50 USD so more AUD)

So with that 'cooling' and CPU savings the extra mobo and CPU cooler money makes up for it

The E4300 is 1.8 Ghz and the E4400 is 2.0 Ghz. The price difference is a dollar so it doesnt matter for the price.

Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 is $135 for me.

When i get the case (im thinking, Antec 900), it'll have excellent cooling, and i believe it comes with 3 fans so all i need to buy is two. So ignore the fan cost.

Would I be able to over the E4400 with a Asus P5VDC-MX? Cooling isnt a problem with the case ill have.

Im wondering, why do you suggest the E4300 over the E4400?

I put in red what is whats the "basic" list. In blue i put the alternatives that Sreenath suggested. I dont mind that price difference if it'll output alot more.

Thanks.

Will do. Although I might be able to drive to pick it up from the warehouses ill keep that in mind. Thanks Bud.

Out of a 7600GT and a X1950, does the X1950 rape the shiz out of the 7600GT or is it just a bit of difference? Im wondering if the X1950 will be overkill for what i need to do with my computer.

Alright, Update:

Ive settled out what I'm going to buy, EXCEPT for the graphics card. I have to pick.

Code:
MOTHERBOARD   - Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 [$140]
PROCESSOR     - Intel Core 2 Duo E4400 2.0 Ghz [$146]
MEMORY        - DDR2 PC2-5300 2GB [$137]
LCD MONITOR   - LG L204WT 20" // 2000:1 // 5ms [$280]
HARD DRIVE - Seagate 320GB Serial ATA II [$98]

= $801

Graphics Option 1 - Sapphire Radeon X1950 Pro 512 PCI-E
Total = $1,081

Graphics Option 2 - Geforce 7600GT 256MB
Total = $922
Any thoughts? Does anyone see any compatibility problems?

Will the 7600GT give me no problems for games such as Hitman Blood Money and BF2/BF2142? If so, my list tweaking is over, 7600GT it is!

yes , it rapes it hardcore. Get the x1950 , because that gives you the opportunity to game. And that card can game very , very well.

If you arent sure what you want. Like you want a cheaper yet not as crappy card , i can sell you my sapphire x1900gt for 125 USD , it sells for 214 bucks without shipping on the egg.

but otherwise , go for the x1950

I would but I'm not in the states and if theres a problem with the card or the delivery is hard it chase it up. Good price though, 100 bucks less than new.

Just when I had decided to go for the cheaper card you make me start thinking about it again!

I agree about the X1950 Pro. It comes out as the winner when pitted against the 8600GTS, for reference ;p

On another note, don't import. Like you said, if you need to RMA something, it could be a pain.
To be more specific, a pain that costs a lot of money.

Basic video editing (Windows Movie Maker style and when i can be bothered to learn - Adobe Premiere), photo editing (photoshop), music (sound editing), games to the caliber of BF2 and BF2142 (those two are 2 games that seem to have the highest needs compared to the other games I will want to play).

the video editing, photo editing will be fine with both 7600gt and the x1950 as my dads laptop (no special gfx card) can do the video and photoshop editing fine.

im just worried about having problems with bf2, bf2142, hitman blood money and games up there in pc requirements.
