Im not sure if I should buy this rig or not! - Page 3

Yeah but this is my temp rig for about 6 months or so. Im literally going to replace the mobo \\\\ chip in about that time, I got the 8800 gts cuz im looking to the future. Right now I dont even HAVE a computer, and a ~130 investment over 6 months to me is fine. I know the cpu cant even touch the 8800, its just im looking ahead

Ok. So here is my system, as im going to order it... and literally 2 hours before recommending the other mobo, here it what im about to get.

I already have a X2 Brisbane 1.9 and biostar tforce 520, so this is what im getting, and 2 gigs of DDR2 pc6400 800mhz 4-4-4-12 ram with heatspreaders (got em for 72 bucks!):

Now the only problem i have is the PSU. I think I can get a better one. These are the ones I was thinking about buying:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817153052

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817171018

They both have 20w more power. I was wondering if I was going to have enough connectors tho. This is my first computer build in about 10 years and things have changed a lot since then, so immmmm kinda iffy. Any thoughts?

xclio goodpower 500 watt is a reputable psu for $50

Upgrade to a 8800 gts from the 8600 gt and your build will still be < $700

You don't need 800 mhz ram, 667 mhz is fine (9.5 multi x 333 fsb = 3.16 ghz at stock 667mhz ram speed)

I heard that the 8600 is garbage.. at least that one is. Only DDR2 RAM. If I was to get a 8600, do you think I should get that one, or one of these two:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150229
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814127284

I was learning the 2nd one because of the way better cooling and the already slightly OC'd speeds. And 50$ isnt really gonna kill me lol... but i think 8800gts is a bit much atm, which youre right about. thx

Dont get an 8600, there not even that good and for a start probably wont even run Direct X 10 games

I would get a better case than that...you have all that nice hardware and you are going to put it in a crappy case? I usually go with the $40-$50 case...not too expensive, but wont fall to pieces in the mail either!

Get the 2nd 8600...better cooling:
Also, about the 8600 being garbage because of DDR2 RAM...
Benchies (i forgot where) determined that DDR3 RAM (right now) has almost no advantage over DDR2 RAM...

I upgraded to my 8600 from a 7300LE (and a 5200 FX before that)....I think it is awesome, but I also don't need AAx8 @ 1600 x 1200 with full lighting/shadows

Well.. someone suggested it to me. It actually just came in the mail today haha. So then ill get the 109 8600, and I'll just sell it later or something when I upgrade my entire system.

the power rating of the psu is fine, it's the brand I don't trust. That system wont draw over 300W even if you OC. So, look into a better brand, FSP, Seasonic, Silverstone.

Not to be critical or be an ass, but everything someone recommends, you seem to not really consider. Seems like you're going back to your original idea.
