Animated desktop

Thread Starter
I know on Vista you can have those neat looking animated desktop backgrounds. Is there a way to do this in Ubuntu 7.04 or XP? I really want this to be my background:

I could make that into a gif image, I bet.

if it was an animated GIF it would work but you can make an HTML your background also so try setting that page as your background right on your desktop and then click properties, then click desktop... from there it;m not completely sure (because i no longer have any computers running XP) but i know theres somewhere in there that you can set a website as your background so you just put that url in there and it will do it.

try this program http://www.bytescout.com/files/SWFToVideoScout.exe it will scan your computer and find that flash thing you linked to and then click file> set as desktop wallpaper

XP : Right click on desktop --> Properties--> Desktop --> Press Customise Desktop Button--> go to the Web Tab in the desktop Items Window which comes up--> and then click on New and should be about 2 steps after that.

once you do all the things, you have to maximise the window.

I tried that and it's kinda cool. Just it's not 1680x1050. And it's kinda weird, you'll see when u try it yourself.

I did an animated desktop a few years ago: made my entire computer navigable via the desktop by creating a Flash Document that linked to every folder.

So it was all flash based.

And you can set up your Desktop as an HTML document with the embedded flash in it.

Quite fun.
