i truely hope no one buys amd, we need separate companies so there will be support for every side ie amd, nvidia, intel. i would cry if ibm bought amd, they ruin everything... i say samsung should just stay with what they are doing. master the type of market you are in, even tho yes i understand that they will be strong in the cpu and video market. but remember this, when a company gets stretched to thin, you lose alot, and will have alot to look over(military terminology).

Yeah Samsung is definitely going to buy AMD. Whatever TheInq says is always true.

Sigh...IBM is not going to be buying any thing. IBM has made it very clear that they do not want to be in the manufacturing business. They have sold most of that part of the company to Chinese based companies. The town I live in has empty IBM buildings all over it. Higher managers have told current employees that IBM's new focus is engineering and software design. So basically they will design it for you but you have to build it and sell it. It seems to be working well for them so far...i am still a little mad at all the lay offs though. i am glad I am a lab rat and will never even be able to work for them. Unless they get into the medical testing and research fields.

Though if it were true, I'm hoping things turn out well for AMD.

I am fairly confident that something good could come by throwing a lot of money at the problem that is AMD, but I'm not sure if Samsung is the one that should be doing the throwing.

Four bad lucks in a row... Now I don't buy them.

One from Circuit city, two from newegg, and one from best buy. 205bw,(2x) 940n, and 740n. REALLY uneven backlighting with horrendous bleed, poor color depth, awful viewing angle, bad pixels, and some of the worst cutomer service I've ever experienced. Heck, my 205BW was in a pristine undamaged box and came with a crooked stand. Sucks viewing your monitor with a 5 degree slant. Also sucks being in a cave while playing Oblivion and you can't even read your HUD because the backlight bleed is screwing the contrast ratio...

Lots of other people love them though so I may give them another chance in the future based on how awesome I think their optical drives are. We just picked up a 740n at work and it is pretty nice, much better than I remember the one I used to have.

Dunno, I'm pretty in love with my HP w2007.

An AMD acquisition would be good for a major company. They would instantly be in the graphic and cpu buisness. It would be rough and unprofitable in the begining but with patience and resources it can become a powerhouse.
A company like Samsung if they want to play on the level with Nvidia and Intel, would benefit from such a purchase.

And in the end we all would benefit from the competition.
