Ga-945p-ds3

Thread Starter
well, my specs are as follow:

CPU: C2DE4300@2700mhz
Video:Radeon X1950gt
board:Ga-945P-DS3
mem: A-Data vitesta 667

my problem i believe is my board but im not all too sure.

the thing is, i can get a fantastic Overclock of the 4300(2700mhz) but as soon as i pass the 300mhz Fsb mark the board will boot up but it wont read the true clock speed and cpuz shows the fsb as 302mhz(quad pump 1200mhz+ effective).

now im still a bit of a noob when it comes to overclocking and most people would be satisfied with an almost 50% OC but i want to push my 4300 above the 3g mark .

but no matter what i do it cant seem to pass the 302mhz fsb mark.

another thing is that the only way to get the cpu up to that speed is to drop the mem multi down to 1.5 making my ddr2 667 run @460mhz(but with timings of 3-2-2-7)

also i was wondering if the pciE freq could be an issue as the board wont even post when i put it below 130mhz(sounds scary to me) and im affraid that my card may get damaged .

can anyone help me out here are there any mods available to push my board over the 3g mark .

and has anyone else had this issue with the p945 chipset? or is it just a me thing cause i am still a n00bz0r!!!

ive also been running the ram at 2v and the cpu at 1.344v i actually raised the cpu V to nearly 1.5 but still no success over 2700mhz .

please someone tell me if im doing anything wrong

and point me in the rite direction before i blow something up hehehe.

go HERE to enter your full system stats

the socket 945 is not well known for good overclocking but you should at least hit 400mhz... make the ram UNLOCKED and underclock it to 650MHZ (325mhz fsb) and increase the CPU fsb. if it doesnt work, increase the CPU voltage to 1.40V.

well you see the thing about underclocking the ram to 650 and raising the fsb up to 325 would mean that i would have to set the mem multi at 2(1:1)

the board wont boot at 1:1 past 252fsb

and is 1.4v safe

i tried anyway but it seems that whenever i raise the ram V the fsb tends to drop even after i set it to 325. i was able to run it at 325 with the ram multi at 1.5 but the post only read as 303 fsb

OH crap! I HATE gigabyte bios.once they are unlinked , the multiplier shouldnt matter, because the ram wont depend on the cpu FSB anymore. instead of choosing a multiplier, there should be an option for unlinked or something.

Choosing a multiplier on the ram means it is LINKEd. you have to run the ram and CPU separately.

Do you have the option for (G)MCH voltage? If so, try playing around with that.

There is no unlinking anything on that board, I think someone is confused with the way nvidia does their chipsets.

Anyway, the 945 chipset was really not designed for overclocking, 300FSB may very well be the maximum it can reach.
