How can i overclock this CPU? - Page 2

Your Front side bus (FSB) in your BIOS settings. Its the value that you increase to make your CPU clock rise.
For example i have a 15x multi on my CPU and my stock speed is 3.0GHz (3000MHz) So therefore i need my FSB to be at 200 to get 3000MHz (15x200=3000) so to run my computer at a 1:1, FSBDR ratio, my RAM needs to be at 400MHz (200:400)
Have i lost you? post bak and ill try to make it simpler.

p.s if you are wondering why im saying 1:1 when it looks like a 1:2 ratio(200:400 is actually 1:2 in actual maths) Its because im expressing the RAM as its DDR(double data rate)frequency. So technically my FSB is 200 and my RAM is 200 but cause it is DDR it is 400MHz effective.

Hope it makes sense now.

FSB(QDR), MHz? if so you I think thats the number you have to increase. Say for example 1066 to 1500.

Fill out your system specs mate, and somewhere in your BIOS is should say something like "enable clock rate change" Then under that will have the FSB frequency and then under that your DDR frequency...im sorry but i dont think i can make it anymore clearer :S

You should be able to get 3.2Ghz easy out of that CPU, I have the e6420 and im running it at 3.2Ghz with a 100% Bench temp. of 45 degrees give or take a few centigrade
