Well my sig rig cost me $1300.

Yes, it does support the quad core. If you do buy the GTX you will be completely fine for a while to come, and when things get a bit tougher you can add another one. its up to you, but if you dont plan on eventually sli'ing the gtx's then i'd grab the 320's

I'm going to be running on 1680x1050. I was looking at the GTX's, and your telling me 2xGTS 320's will outperform the GTX?

Not doubting you, but if I'm spending big bucks like this, I'd like to know for sure.

Yes, it does outperform the GTX, when your looking at SLI stuff your not just looking at the fact that it has more memory, but it also has More processing power.

640mb's is more than enough memory for 1680x1050. its like running a GTS 640, with a tubocharger

You sure? Newegg and other places had everything cheaper for my build but the PSU.

okay, so I found an article on tomshardware.com: VGA Charts: Summer 2007. And I see that the 320mb is sufficient for 1600x1200 (although I'm running 1680x1024 widescreen...)

Also, SLI doesn't mean double the performance. It increases performance, but it doesn't double.
